The Polish woman died after falling 15 metres from the terrace of the Casa madre della Congregazione della Resurrezione convent, at around 6.30am on Friday morning, Il Messaggero reported.

She had reportedly been on the roof after a night out with her 22-year-old cousin, who called the police after the accident.

“She was dancing on the terrace, then she crossed over the railing and fell down,” he was quoted as telling investigators.

The pair had been holidaying in Rome and had spent Thursday evening in the city’s bars, before returning to their accommodation where they reportedly continued drinking.

The accident happened at the convent on Via di San Sebastianello, where there are guest rooms for family members, although it is unclear whether the Polish woman had been staying in the building.
