According to the public prosecutor in Copenhagen, an officer with Copenhagen Vestegn Police entered into a close relationship with a member of the criminal environment in the suburbs of Copenhagen. The officer allegedly gave his contact confidential information, told the contact not to share information with the Copenhagen Police and even loaned the man an undisclosed amount of money.

Among the confidential information the officer shared was the internal organisation of Copenhagen Police’s gang unit and information about four specific individuals listed in the national crime register.

The officer is also accused of not filling out required reports detailing his interactions with the criminal, who was acting as a source of information for Copenhagen Vestegn Police. According to the public prosecutor, the officer also neglected to write a report when a tip from another criminal source led to the seizure of 1.5 kilos of heroin and 130,000 kroner in cash.

All of the incidents occurred in 2011. The officer will be tried in a Glostrup court on charges of gross negligence of duty. He has pled not guilty. If convicted, the officer could face imprisonment.
