The slaughterhouse Danish Crown announced on Monday that it will eliminate 150 jobs.
Danish Crown pointed to a decline in the supply of slaughter pigs as the reason for the job cuts. According to a company press release, 80 employees in Faaborg will lose their jobs, as will 26 in Blans, 29 in Herning and 24 in Ringsted.
“We could see the decline coming already in the spring, but the many holidays allowed us to initially avoid job cuts. Over the past weeks it has been difficult to keep our slaughterhouses operating on Fridays, so therefore we don’t see any other solution other than cutting down on manpower,” Danish Crown’s production manager, Søren Eriksen said in a statement.
The jobs will be eliminated throughout August and September, the company said.
