The image, which has not been independently authenticated, appears to show the man, who is apparently not wearing a shirt, holding on to a shopping trolley with a plant with spiky leaves clearly visible. He is riding on a carriage of the U3 line.
The picture was posted by a member of the public on the Facebook page of the Vienna public transport authority, known as Wiener Linien.
In a response on Facebook, Wiener Linien commented that the person taking the picture should have notified authorities if he felt that something illegal was taking place.
