Jon Fitje Hoffmann, Chief of Analysis at PST, said to TV 2: "PST has reason to believe that a group of people left Syria with the goal of committing a terror attack in the West. Norway is mentioned specifically. We are working with clarification and verification of the information, but we think the credibility of the information is strengthened."

The exact whereabouts of the Syrian group is not known.

The information was announced on Friday, the same day Norwegian police are considering taking even more measures than those taken following the terror threat announced on Thursday.

Police director Odd Reidar Humlegård says to the TV 2: “We will have a phone conference with all the chief constables in the police, gather situation reports, and see if we can take more measures.”
