"It's informative, instructive and the birds aren't troubled if everything's handled correctly," said Dennis Kraft, Chairman of the Swedish Ornithological Society (SOF), to the TT news agency.
"Furthermore it offers the birds some protection from egg thieves."
The trend has furthermore expanded outside of the conservationist and ornithologists community, who typically deployed the cams in order to capture the activities of birds of prey with amateur enthusiasts also getting in on the act.
"There are birdhouses with built-in cameras for those who wish to watch the birds living in their garden," Kraft told TT.
The most famous birds recent example of birds to appear online were four peregrine chicks who were perched on the Folksam office block in Stockholm minding their own business before being bullied by seagulls to the point where three of them had to be moved to a more secure home in Västerås.
The final peregrine however stayed behind to fight the avian foe and it is still possible to catch a glimpse of it by clicking on this stream.
