Police chase Örebro shooting suspect

Police in Örebro are searching for a man after a shooting in a residential area of Örebro in central Sweden on Monday evening.

A warrant has been issued for the arrest of the man, who is reported to be in his twenties.

He is suspected of shooting another man in the Vivalla area of the city late Monday evening. The victim was taken to hospital where he remained on Tuesday morning.

"My assessment is that he has minor injuries; we have been able to speak to him at the hospital," said Jens auf der Heide at Örebro police to the TT news agency.

Police were called to the scene of the shooting at 10.50pm on Monday. The shooting is reported to have occurred in the open air on Poesigatatan.

Officers and search dogs were deployed in the hunt for the gunman who remained on the loose at 9am on Tuesday.

The gunman is reported to be suspected of attempted murder or attempted manslaughter. Police declined to divulge details as to the relationship between the men.
