The Celtic boss was happy to win by a single goal the first leg of the second-round qualifier for the Champions League.

After the match Deila said to the BBC: "We created a lot and deserved a goal; maybe a couple more. I would've been happy with zero zero. My philosophy is to learn and get better every day. It's important for us to play matches."

Celtic dominated the game and created the majority of chances.

But Celtic left it until the 84th minute before Callum McGregor beat the Icelandic side's keeper to snatch a late victory.

Before the match, Deila said to the BBC he regarded his club's need to pre-qualify for European football as "stupid".

Celtic were missing their captain Scott Brown due to a hamstring injury. The midfielder will be out for three months.

The second leg of the Champions League second qualifying round tie will take place at Murrayfield stadium.
