Boat crashes into Norwegian oil rig

60 workers were rescued from a Statoil rig in Oseberg Øst after a supply boat crashed into the platform on Thursday.

The incident happened around 1am on Thursday morning and rescued workers were forced to wait for two hours in life boats.

A moving supply boat hit the suspension legs of the rig.

Nobody was injured in the collision, but the boat and rig sustained some material damage.

After the crash, all staff aboard the rig were evacuated to life boats in line with routine safety measures.

The workers returned to the platform and normal work resumed around 3am.
