Foreigners flock to Italy in summer, soaking up the sun and overdosing on ice-cream.
But for Italians, the arrival of the summer months are often met with dread.
Not only does it get too hot, but the bloodthirsty mosquitoes arrive and rotting rubbish attracts other unsightly creatures. There is also little room to relax on the beach, where Italians risk being outdone by more beautiful bodies than their own.
That's not to mention the summer suffered by city dwellers, forced to face throngs of half-naked tourists wandering around the streets.
