Seven German players have cold-like symptoms, said coach Joachim Löw, with midfielder Christoph Kramer the latest to be hit. Kramer made his debut as a substitute against Algeria on Monday night.
In an interview with broadcaster ARD, Löw confirmed: “Seven players have minor cold-like symptoms, basically sore throats. I don't think it is that bad at the moment. I don't want to dramatize it," he said.
Löw didn’t name the players, other than Kramer, but blamed their sniffles on travelling, air conditioning and differences in temperature.
The good news for Löw, however, is that defender Mats Hummels and striker Lukas Podloski are fit again.
Hummels missed the Algeria game with a fever, while Podolski had a thigh strain.
Hummels tweeted a photo of himself on a beach on Wednesday, saying he was almost recovered.
