Kitten has lucky escape from car engine

A kitten that climbed inside a car’s engine and got trapped inside a plastic panel has been rescued by the fire department in Pinkafeld (Burgenland).

The car’s owner heard tiny miaows coming from his car and called the fire service – who sent three men to rescue the emaciated eight-week old feline.

The kitten has been treated by a vet who is also a member of the fire department. It has been wormed and vaccinated, and is looking for a new home.

Animals getting wedged in cars is not uncommon, and usually they don't end well.  There was a very fortunate badger in Norway who survived a collision with a vehicle.

Cats and kittens often crawl under car hoods for warmth, but risk death or severe injury when the engine is started up.

Anyone interested in adopting this little cat – who may only have eight lives left – can get in touch with Commander Kurt Tripamer on 0664 435 36 12.
