The incidents occurred in a classroom in Hisingen, western Sweden, during the past year. It's understood that the student is in the eighth grade, which is generally made up of 15-year-old pupils, newspaper Metro reported.

"The Child and School Student Representative thinks it's remarkable that teachers don't have the educational skills to handle a pressurized and rowdy situation other than to say 'shut up' to a student," the authority said in a statement.

The report by the Child and School Student Representative (Barn och elevombudet, BEO) stated that the pupil claimed he was repeatedly called an "idiot" and a "pain in the ass" by the teachers.

The student was reportedly being disruptive in class at the time, and was asked numerous times to behave. When the student failed to comply, the teacher allegedly said "shut up" and threw an iPad charger at the student.

One of the teachers was a substitute and has since left. BEO said the other teacher, who also said "shut up", subjected the student to additional insulting treatment. The teacher's current position has not been confirmed.

The report also states that the principal failed to maintain obligations to the education act by not reporting the iPad charger incident, despite being aware of the incident.

The Child and School Student Representative, BEO, is a part of the Swedish Schools Inspectorate. It acts to safeguard the rights of children and students by investigating complaints concerning degrading treatment. The authority can also represent children and students in court.
