Austrian minister moots tax reform with Sweden

Vice-Chancellor and Finance Minister Michael Spindelegger started a two-day trip to Sweden on Tuesday.

According to his spokesman, Paul Trummer, Spindelegger wanted to find out more about the reform process in Sweden. Trummer was speaking to the APA on Tuesday.

On Tuesday morning, Spindelegger was due to meet with his Swedish counterpart, Finance Minister Anders Borg, to discuss possible tax reforms and budgets.

The Austrian finance minister was also due to speak to Minister for Social Security, Ulf Kristersson, about the reform progress in the Swedish pension system.

On Tuesday afternoon, Spindelegger was supposed to meet with representatives from the Swedish trade association, to discuss deregulation and making Austria and Sweden more attractive as business locations.

According to a statement by the Swedish finance ministry, Spindelegger was also due to discuss the job market with Borg. Measures taken by the Swedish government to create new jobs were to be at the centre of the talks.
