Swedish court evacuated after bomb threat

The Borås District Court in central Sweden was evacuated on Friday after staff received a bomb threat via email. Police have been unable to track the sender or deduce a motive.

The court was emptied at around 3pm on Friday after the threat was made. The nearby footpaths and restaurants were also cordoned off while police investigated.

"Naturally, we have to take this seriously," Peter Adlersson of the Borås police told the TT news agency.

The email said that a bomb would be detonated at 3pm. Court staff took no chances in finding out if the threat would come to fruition, instead alerting the police. A bomb squad and sniffer dogs were called to the scene, while nearby traffic was diverted and nearby shops were closed down for the day.

Police were working on tracking the email to find the culprit, but Adlersson said they were so far unable to find the sender or any motive.
