Police have found the man they believe was behind violent assaults on three women in Vienna's Prater park – at least one of the attacks was carried out with a meat hammer.

A bus driver called the police after noticing an elderly passenger who appeared disoriented and confused. Police officers then identified the man as the suspect in the Prater attacks. The man has been taken to the psychiatric ward of a local hospital due to an undisclosed health condition, police said.

A 58-year-old woman was attacked in the Prater last Saturday. She was hit in the head from behind and her attacker reportedly told her, "Now you must die."

Police are investigating two other attacks, one on a 64-year-old woman at the Prater skating rink and another attack on a 30-year-old woman who was sitting with her son on a park bench, and who was also attacked from behind. All attacks happened in broad daylight.

None of the victims were seriously injured.
