SHEEP

Baa, baa, baa, baa, baa, baa, baa, baa Batlamb!

Norwegian sheep farmer Hege Vigre suspected there was something special about her new lamb when it adopted a Superman pose while still in the womb.

It was only after it was born, however, that she realised she had in fact just delivered Batman's ovine counterpart, Batlamb.

"She was lying wrong in the womb, with the left foot under the stomach and the right one forward, like Superman," Vigre told The Local of the lamb's delivery on Monday.

"I didn't really think of the eyes until the day after when it was drinking from the mother and jumping around, and I suddenly thought, 'wow, the eyes are symmetrical'".

The animal's true identity was confirmed when Vigre posted a photo of the new arrival on a farmers' Facebook site.

"Some people called it Zorro, and others called it Batlamb, she remembers. "I call it Batlamb."

Within hours the pictures of the lamb were reported in Norway's Aftenposten newpaper, starting the lamb's unstoppable ascent to global fame.

Although owned by Vigre, the lamb is looked after at Vitengarden,  part of the Jaermuseet animal park in Nærbø, near Stavanger.
