Union bosses call for later starts in World Cup

“When Germany play after 10pm, work should begin later the next day,” Robert Feiger, head of IGBAU, a construction, forestry and engineering union, told the Bild. “This would be brilliant.”

Boss of the IGBCE union Michael Vassiliadis told Bild: “Employers and advisory boards should promise that they, when possible, will fix working hours so staff can see matches. What else do we have these hard-won flexible working hours for?”

Wolfgang Steiger from the Christian Democrat Union (CDU) economic advisory council said that bosses should be “accommodating” for employees when Germany plays.

But he added that work had to continue during the World Cup.
