Norway teen has lived in cave for a year

A 19-year-old girl from the most fjord-filled region of Western Norway has been living a cave for almost a year with little but a high-grade sleeping bag to get her through the gruelling Norwegian winter.

Ida Beate Løken, a student at the Sogn Agriculture and Horticulture School, moved into her rocky dwelling in May 2013 after deciding she wanted to reduce her environmental impact to close to nothing.

"It's much more fun to stay there," Løken told Norway's TV2 network earlier this month.

"When it rains, I wonder how I do this," she said of her climb up from school. "But then when I get up here and sit inside,  it is quite warm. Then I know why I do it."

Ida has a history of environmental activism, founding Green Youth in Sogn og Fjordane county.

She sleeps in a sleeping bag that can keep you warm in temperatures of -30 on a bed of straw covered with a mattress and a blanket, and drinks rainwater she catches in a bowl.
