Woman charged after accusing beggar of theft

The beggar was detained by police for two days following the woman's claim that he had robbed her of 7,000 kronor ($1,065) and a reading tablet.

But police concluded that the story was completely fabricated after speaking with the woman's bank.

She had identified the man who was begging to the police and accused him of being aggressive, Göteborgs-Posten newspaper reported.

She has now been charged with alerting authorities on false grounds, falsely making accusations, and one count of forging a signature (falsklarm, falsk angivelse, and urkundsförfalskning).
