Welcome to Spain’s most exclusive restaurant

A Barcelona restaurant is giving a new twist to the concept of exclusivity by only having one table and letting clients choose the meals, cutlery and décor they want.

Booking a table has never been so hard now that chef Antonio Cornejo is offering his culinary services to just one group of diners a night.

So is it worth calling?

"We're busy, but there are still plenty of free nights available," a spokesperson for Cornerjo told The Local.

His restaurant, Mercès One, distinguishes itself from all others by offering a true quiet night out to the 365 set of customers he has every year.

Whoever is lucky enough to get a table can choose from a variety of interior designs in which to be wined and dined — from modern to romantic to even minimalistic— all of which can be pre-booked on the website.

The same goes for the cutlery, the music, the table linen and of course the food and drink.

If all the deciding puts the customer off, Cornejo tells his guests to leave it in his capable hands.

The dining room area hosts a maximum of 22 customers a night and menu prices are on average €60 per person, excluding wine.

With over 12 years of experience, this chef told Spanish daily El Mundo he was finally getting the chance and time to develop his creative side by focusing solely on one set of hungry customers a night.
