A Norwegian nature photographer has created this stunning time-lapse film of the pulsating shapes and colours of the Northern Lights over the city of Trondheim in northern Norway.

Øyvind Schei, posted the film, called 'The Dazzling Beauty' to his Facebook Group 'Minemakiskeoyeblikk' ('My Magical Moments'), on Saturday.

The Northern Lights, also known as the aurora borealis, is caused by the collision of energetic charged particles with atoms in the high altitude atmosphere, and is most visible within the Arctic Circle.
