With more than 6,200 restaurants to choose from among Paris’s 20 arrondissements, many of them excellent, the job of picking a restaurant for Valentine's Day can overwhelm even the most passionate of souls.

It can require hours of guide book research and then a considerable “research fund” to try out the promising places.
