Madrid airport makes world punctuality top ten

Madrid's Barajas airport was among the ten most punctual in the world in November with only Munich performing better in Europe.

A total of 86.94 percent of all flights from Barajas airport left on time or within 15 minutes of their scheduled departure time, figures from FlightStats show.

This made it the ninth most punctual airport in the world in November.

The top international airports were Tokyo’s (HND) Haneda and (MSP) Minneapolis, both with an on-time performance rating over 90 percent.

In third place was Munich with a score of 89.26 percent, while Barcelona's El Prat airport grabbed 13th place.

Spain's Iberia airlines came in 6th place for punctuality among major international airlines with 90.47 percent of all flights arriving within 15 minutes of their scheduled arrival time.

Finnair did best with a score of 93.29 percent while Easyjet came second with 92.76 percent of all flights arriving on time.

Among European carriers, Iberia Express took fifth place with 95.36 percent of flights arriving on time.
