Geir Lippestad, one of the country's most prominent defence lawyers, has been appointed chairman of Agenda, which is being launched to act as a left-wing counterpart to Civita, an influential right-wing policy institute.
"It is clear that if you choose a person like me, you want a chairman who will participate in the debates," Lippestad told NRK. "Therefore, I am going to put a lot of time into it."
He told Dagsavisen that Agenda aimed “to shape ideas that are more free and bold than what can be created within a political party.”
“We will also build a network with other think tanks and political circles with a left-centre value system out in the world,” he added.
Lippestad's first task is to appoint a managing director for the organization.
