Naples has ‘worst quality of life in Italy’

Naples came in last place based on a number of factors such as health, services and public order. The southern city is home to the Camorra mafia, often cited as the reason Naples suffers from poor infrastructure and a high crime rate.

The top spot was taken by Trento in northern Italy, followed by Bolzano. Both cities are part of the autonomous Trentino-Alto Adige region, a wealthy part of the country that keeps control of most of its tax revenue.

Bologna came in third place and was followed by Belluno, a town in the shadow of the Dolomite mountains, while Siena in Tuscany was named the fifth best place to live in.

Rome, in 20th place, trailed behind 10th-spot Milan, which jumped from 17th place last year.

Turin, Italy’s first capital city, fell from 43rd place in 2012 to 52nd this year. The home of Fiat and Martini has lost its shine due to petty theft, high property prices and pollution, Il Sole 24 Ore said.
