"I think that all women should be proud of themselves, regardless of how they look after labour," Eriksen told Good Morning America, one of the US's most-watched morning chat shows.

The 'selfie' Eriksen posted on the social media site Instagram became a sensation worldwide over the weekend, dividing commentators over whether Eriksen was guilty of piling impossible expectations onto other mothers-to-be.

"During the pregnancy people kept telling me that my body would never would be the same," Eriksen told the US programme. "I wanted to tell everybody that that is not entirely true."

"Right after birth, like 3 minutes after, I felt like myself again."

Eriksen, who blogs under the name Fotballfrue, or footballer's wife, is married to Premier League player Lars-Kristian Eriksen.

On Sunday she once again, showed off her honed post-birth body, posting a festive picture of herself nursing her baby in a skin-tight lycra jumpsuit.
