A woman reported the Malmö restaurant for agitation (hets mot folkgrupp) after she noticed the offending menu on Tuesday.

"This is not acceptable. Veiled racism in Malmö is dangerous," she told the Metro newspaper.

In a list of daily dishes, the Lundavägens Grill restaurant offered gypsy soup (zigenarsoppa), writing in brackets that all the ingredients were stolen. Restaurant owner Slavko Rasic responded to the police report by saying that it wasn't his intention to offend, but that he accepts the accusation.

"I'll take it like a man. I don't think I am specifically pointing the finger at any race when I call it 'gypsy soup'," he said, adding that the tagline of "stolen ingredients" was just a private joke.

He maintained that he could just as well have called the dish "Elvis soup", as his choice of name was nothing more than a word.

"It would be a different story if the soup was disgusting," he added.

Local police are looking into the matter, but told Metro that the report was not currently a priority.
