Tommy Kristiansen was called back from the dressing room by chants of "Tommy, Tommy, Tommy" from the stalls if the Stavanger Oilers' stadium.
"It was incredibly great. It means so much to me, and I realize now what Oilers family stands for," Kristiansen told TV2.
Kristiansen, who has Roma heritage, was on Sunday barraged with shouts of "fucking gypsy youth", and "hypo bastard" from supporters of the opposite team, forcing him to leave the ice before the end of the match.
