Le Nouvelliste newspaper reported online on Wednesday that the motive for the murder was linked to the theft of hashish belonging to the victim, a Spanish citizen who worked as a DJ at local nightclubs.

The local prosecutor’s office confirmed that four individuals living in Saint Maurice and Massongex were arrested, the newspaper reported.

The victim’s body was found by the banks of the Rhône River in early February.

Following an autopsy that concluded the man did not die of natural causes, Valais cantonal police issued a call for information from members of the public.

The man was known as a well-established DJ in the town of Monthey, as well as at other clubs in the Chablais region and in Lausanne, Le Nouveilliste said.

The prosecutor’s office has not issued any other information about the case.
