Swedish magnates fund infamous ‘hate site’

Top Swedish businessmen are on a name-and-shame list of donors to the news site Avpixlat, which in its 'the truth is out there about immigration' drive is widely considered xenophobic.

Swedish magnates fund infamous 'hate site'

The newspaper Aftonbladet on Wednesday revealed that donations to the site include doctors, psychologists, entrepreneurs, and researchers. Most noteworthy, however, were two high-level businessmen – one at the telecom giant Ericsson, the other at industrial giant Sandvik.

“If the Ericsson mail address has been used for private use in this context, we take this issue very seriously,” Ericsson spokeswoman Elisabeth Manzi told Aftonbladet, which referred to Avpixlat as a “hate site”.

Most of the donors were male, older, and lived in the countryside.

The editorial staff at Avpixlat are all anonymous, although Aftonbladet has revealed previously that Sweden Democrat politician Kent Ekeroth has had content-related opinions on their production. Ekeroth also organized the donations, the paper claimed.

The Avpixlat editorial staff has, for example, encouraged its readers to send in pictures of refugee children living in hiding. A teenage girl who insulted Sweden Democrat leader Jimmie Åkesson on Twitter fell foul of online abuse on Avpixlat, with one contributor writing:

“You deserve to be gang raped and then left to bleed to death.”
