Uni bans masturbating student from library

A student at Jönköping University in southern Sweden has been banned from the campus library after being caught masturbating by a female student.

The incident occurred in late September when the girl unexpectedly came across the man pleasuring himself in one of the library’s quiet lecture rooms. She alerted staff and confronted the man over the incident, which was also reported to the police, the local Jönköpings Posten newspaper reported.

Along with the police, the university’s disciplinary and expulsion board also investigated the matter which they said “severely disrupted operations at the library.”

In a statement issued to the expulsion board, the male student confessed to masturbating in the library and expressed his “deep remorse” for the episode.

He has been banned from the library on a temporary basis until university officials hold another hearing on the case, scheduled for November 7th.

Jönköping University has an estimated 10,000 students and is regarded as one of the top universities in the country for its student exchange programme. It has 1,500 foreign students hailing from 65 different countries according to its website.

The student is the latest man in Sweden to make the headlines for masturbating in public. Last month a man who openly masturbated on a Stockholm beach was acquitted of sexual assault after a court ruled he was not targeting a specific person.

In June a masturbating man was caught on film rubbing himself against the seat of a bicycle, whose owner had grown tired of finding the tyres punctured and set up a camera.
