Bank robbers use hoover to rob ATM

Thieves used a hoover to sweep up thousands of euros from a cash machine in the central Italian town of San Marcello, in Marche, over the weekend.

They targeted the ATM of the Banca di Credito Cooperativo of Ostra and Morro d'Alba in the early hours of Saturday morning, Articolo Tre reported.

The robbers unhinged the machine’s front panel before sucking up the contents of the safe deposit boxes, which amounted to "a few thousand euros", and fleeing as the alarm went off.

Italian bank robbers have come up with other novel ways of making their job slightly easier, including using fork-like devices to steal money from cash machines. Earlier this month, five people were arrested for using the “reversal cash trapping” technique to fleece up to €2,000 at a time from ATMs in northern and central Italy.
