MOUNTAIN

Mountain peak collapses in northern Norway

A mountain peak in the far north of Norway has disintegrated and tumbled down to the valley below, leaving a terrified local farmer happy she escaped with her life.

Rocks from the peak tumbled down to the village of Birtavarre, landing less than 100 metres from the barn where Siv Nina Myrvoll keeps her 180 goats.

"Never in the 30 years I have lived here, have I seen the like," she told the local newspaper Framtid i Nord.

She said she was now afraid to tend to her goats.

"The goats need the care, but it is not easy to be there. Especially in the dark. One feels far from safe," she said.

"We're safer here, but to say that we feel absolutely 100 percent sure is wrong."
