Human remains found aboard Costa Concordia

The "remains of a human body, which could be one of the two missing, an Indian waiter" were found on the third bridge of the cruise liner which crashed off the tiny island of Giglio in January 2012, said Francesca Maffini, the agency's spokeswoman.

Thirty bodies were recovered after the crash on January 13th 2012, off the coast of Tuscany. But Indian waiter Russel Rebello and Italian passenger Maria Grazia Trecarichi are still missing.

The new find comes just weeks after divers found human remains close to the ship, following an unprecedented operation in September to raise the 114,500-ton Costa Concordia from its watery grave. Those bones are undergoing scientific tests, including DNA testing, to allow for identification.

The cruise liner had 4,229 passengers from 70 countries on board when it ran aground.

The trial of Captain Francesco Schettino, who is accused of multiple manslaughter, abandoning ship and causing environmental damage, began in July and is set to continue for months.
