Naked vegetarians serve up ‘plate of human flesh’

The graphic protest complete with artificial lettuce and a giant cutlery set was staged by animal rights group AnimaNaturalis on World Day for Farmed Animals (WDFA).

Held outside Barcelona's Mercat de Born, the 'performance' was designed to "invite society to reflect on where the food on their plates come from", AnimaNaturalis Director for Spain Aida Gascón told Spanish news agency Efe.

WDFA takes place every year on or around October 2nd.

It is a global event designed to draw attention to "the needless suffering and death of sentient animals raised and slaughtered for food".

Around 65 billion animals are killed every year to produce meat, eggs, and dairy, according to the WDFA website.

AnimaNaturalis is an international organization dedicated to denouncing animal rights abuses including bullfighting, the sale of fur, and the use of circus animals.
