"It's not just in my garden, it's in every area in this small little town over the last three or four weeks," Hoff told The Local. "They were just passing through, watching me working, and when I took the camera out they began to leave."
In some years, more than a hundred elk enter the town during the September and early October, Hoff said.
"Some years ago we chased out 130 animals. I think we have a lot of elk. If you drive along the island — it's about 30km long — every time you will see an elk."
"There's some hunting going on now, so the elk are coming into the town to protect themselves," he explained. "And there's some very good food in the town's gardens. They are looking for apples. We don't have so many oranges."
