Jon Jessesen, a rail welder and track technician, has collected some 300 unopened Star Wars Lego kits, making him the only man in the world to own every single kit ever produced in the range.
He also owns some 750,000 carefully catalogued loose pieces, which he uses for his own building projects and to trade with other enthusiasts.
He was officially awarded the record on July 30th this year, after applying in late 2012.
"Collecting LEGO Star Wars is for me using the force to bring two wonderful worlds together with a passion for both the films and the innovation of the LEGO product," he told The Local.
He said that his partner, who initially struggled to accept his hobby, had since been brought around.
"My partner takes part in the building of special projects and might not be as quite as crazy as I am but has been affected positively," he said.
.His collection has now grown so large that he plans to build a new floor at the top of his house to house it.
"The plan is to lift the roof of the house to make a new room to seat the whole collection, as well as the ongoing collection of LEGO The Hobbit and Lord of the Rings," he said.
