The song was taken down from both Norwegian and American iTunes on Thursday. 

 

“We’re working to get this situation cleared up as quickly as we can,” Guttorm Raa, head of Warner Music Norway, told the 730.no website. 

 

The song, performed by Bård and Vegard Ylvisåker, has had had more than 22 million views on Youtube by Friday Morning, leaving it some way to go before it beats the 1.7 billion views achieved by the song Gangnam Style, by the Korean popstar Psy. 

 

Mikkel Eriksen, one of Stargate, the New-York based Norwegian production team who worked with Ylvis on the song, said it was up to the two brothers to comment. 

 

He remarked ruefully on the irony that Stargate, who normally work with big name acts such as Rihanna and Beyoncé, were seeing one of their biggest ever hits from a spoof that took them just one day to make in the studio. 

 

"Every day we sit and try and make serious music, and then we get a huge hit about a fox. It's funny," he told VG.
