A number of recent scandals have rocked New Generations of the People's Party (NNGG), the youth wing of Spain's ruling right-wing PP, leading it to open an investigation into several of its members.

According to a party statement, it will seek to determine if there have been any instances of members "acting contrary to the law or against the rules of the NNGG".

A committee will then be convened to study them on a case by case basis and decide on the appropriate punishments, which could range from temporary to permanent expulsion from the party.

Last week, Xesco Sáez, NNGG President in Xátiva, in the autonomous community of Valencia, posted a photograph to his Facebook page showing him performing a fascist salute alongside four friends in a local bar.

The image quickly spread through social media such as Twitter, generating a wave of criticism.

Xátiva's NNGG claimed at the time that Sáez's Twitter and Facebook accounts had been hacked and were supported by the PP's local president, Jorge Herrero, who attacked opposition parties over the incident on Twitter before finally being forced to apologize.

The Sáez scandal came hot on the heels of another incident in Xátiva.

On August 2nd, the PP's local secretary for sport, Jorge Roca, was photographed with a group of 'Ultra' football supporters performing fascist salutes and holding a Spanish flag daubed with Nazi symbols.

He was also later forced to apologize.

Online daily Gente de la Safor then published a photo of NNGG's Secretary General in Gandia, Daniel Terrades, performing a fascist salute in front of a Francoist monument.

As the news broke, a journalist discovered a photo on Facebook of the NNGG's Valencian Secretary of Internal Communications, Juan Antonio Sánz Núñez, dancing in front of a Francoist flag.

Four individuals have been identified by the PP investigation.

Party sources say that all four have apologized and that in one of the cases the person was not a party member at the time that the photograph was taken.
