Scrap women’s quota on company boards – Jensen

 

"We have been against this quota from the start," Progress Party leader Siv Jensen told Aftenposten. "We believe it is wrong to impose such a requirement on private companies. If you own a business, you should be able to decide how it is managed." 

 

Norway's pioneering policy, which requires 40 percent of boardroom seats to go to women, has been a huge boon to the so-called "golden skirts", the female executives women who found themselves in demand when it was introduced in 2006. 

 

However, Conservative Party leader Erna Solberg, who leads the centre-right coalition, said that although her party was also "sceptical" of the quota, removing it was "not a priority".
