VIDEO: Circus celebrates birth of sextuplet tigers

In what has understandably been described as a “rare” birth, six baby tigers have been welcomed into the world at a French circus in the north of the country. Spare a thought for the dad however - all six baby tigers were females.

The rare cubs, named Justine, Clara, Julie, Princesse, Tina and Bianca were born 15 days ago in the Lydia Zavatta circus in Noyelles-Godault, a town in the northern Nord-Pas-de-Calais region.

Born to a white tigress mother named Kirine, the cubs are a combination of three subspecies including one white, one golden tabby and three “normal”.

“It’s very rare to have this many in a litter,” tiger-tamer Steve Caplot told the regional newspaper ‘La Voix du Nord’ on Thursday.

According to the paper the tigers will not “work” until they are at least two years old. Their mother will now take a well deserved three months off.

The circus is currently on its way to the town of Roubaix in northern France.
