Three Italians, two Venezuelans and two Argentinians have been arrested after trying to smuggle the haul through customs.
One of the Argentinians stashed more than three kilos of the drug in boxes of sweets, while the other planted a liquid form of the drug in a padded blanket.
One of the Italians, who had travelled from Lima and claimed he was a chef, attempted to smuggle the drug in cooking pots.
Meanwhile, the Venezuelans played it relatively straight: they arrived with 35kg worth of the white powder, divided across 32 slabs, and ready for the presumed sale to Rome’s underworld, Corriere reported.
