“We’ve issued a statement for a heatwave in eastern Skåne and Blekinge. We do that when the prognosis is at least 26C for three consecutive days,” meteorologist Eva Strandberg told the TT news agency.
Temperatures topped 26C in both these areas over the weekend and show no signs of stopping. Providing the mercury doesn’t head much higher, the agency will not issue any official warnings.

Class one warnings are reserved for when temperatures top 30C for three days in a row, and class two warnings are used for when temperatures exceed 30C for five consecutive days, or 33C for three days.
“On the continent they’ve had these kinds of warnings for a long time, and now it’s even started here,” Strandberg added.
The agency’s message applies to both Skåne and Blekinge, but the rest of Sweden is also expected to be hit by the heat.
“It’ll be high-pressure weather over the whole country, but Wednesday looks like it will be cooler. There may also be summer storms across the country,” Strandberg said.
