“He said that he would beat me to death,” the teacher said in a police interview.
The incident occurred when the teacher confronted the boy over a lie that he had told. The pupil is alleged to have responded to the approach by threatening to kill her.
Following the clash the teacher left the classroom in a state of shock and was assaulted shortly after with a wooden chair. The blow to her back left her with a cut and nursing pain for a week.
There were several witnesses to the incident, both teaching colleagues and other pupils.
The boy is also suspected of vandalism. After the incident the teacher locked the door and the boy attempted to force his way back into the classroom, smashing a window in the process.
The teacher has told police that she had not had any prior conflict with the boy before challenging him over the lie.
The boy is reported to have admitted to charges of vandalism, illegal threats and assault.
