The travelling Cirque Amar welcomed some very special new additions to its entourage this week, after the birth of four tiny white Bengal tigers to their mother Citta, while on a two-day stop at Rochefort in the Charente-Maritime department of western France.
The four adorable babies (seen feeding in a video below) entered the world between Tuesday night and Wednesday morning, and are four of only a few hundred still in existence.
The white Bengal tiger is an endangered species, very rarely found in the wild, primarily because it's unusual colouring means it can't survive predators through camouflage.
The circus is due to spend a month relaxing in Casteljaloux, in the Lot-et-Garonne department of south-western France, before opening its show in the city of Bordeaux in July, according to regional daily Sud Ouest.
Until then, the four tiger cubs should be on public view, but any readers unable to travel to see them can enjoy these videos of the newborns feeding with their exhausted mother.
