Bon Jovi plays Madrid at crisis-friendly prices

Rock legend Jon Bon Jovi is playing in Madrid in June, but his wallet won't be any fatter as a result.

Tickets for the concert by the singer went on sale on March 15th for what constituted bargain basement prices in the rock business.

The cheapest seats for the sold-out June 27th event were a relative steal at €18, while the most expensive places went for €39 euros.

Now Spain's El Mundo newspaper have confirmed why tickets for the Vicente Calderón stadium show were so cheap. Neither the singer with the famous locks or his band will be earning a cent from the night.

"When we were planning our tour to promote our new album, we did a study and saw that, given the economic crisis, Spain wasn't even on the map," the singer and actor told the Spanish national daily.

"But we didn't want to forget all about our fans in a country which I love, and which has treated me so well for 30 years," Bon Jovi explained.

John Francis Bongiovi, Jr. has sold over 130 million albums in a career spanning three decades.

He was named the 'World's Sexiest Rock Star' by US magazine people in 2000 and has an honorary Doctorate in Humanities from Monmouth University in New Jersey.

Recently, the superstar made headlines when he criticized the work ethic of fellow celebrity Justin Bieber following the younger singer's consistently late arrival for gigs.

"Every generation has guys that do that, none of that is new," he told London's Evening Standard.

"They run the risk of disrespecting their audience members who have worked hard to pay for their ticket, to give you the permission to take two or three hours of their lives — or in that kid's case, 80 minutes of their lives," said Bon Jovi.

"Do it once, you can be forgiven. Do it enough times and shame on you. They won't have you back. Then it just becomes a cliche. It's really not cool you're an arsehole. Go to fuckin' work!"

This is what happened when Justin Bieber met Barça

Justin Bieber had time to do a spot of training with Barça players when he arrived in Barcelona at the start of the Spain leg of his world tour.

Even Barcelona's stellar cast of millionaires were star-struck on Monday by a visit from Canadian pop sensation Justin Bieber to the Spanish champions training ground.

Bieber, who is set to perform in Barcelona on Tuesday, was photographed with Barça's star strike triumvirate of Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Neymar.

The 22-year-old also showed off his skills on the pitch with a series of left-footed finishes Messi would be proud of in a kick around with Neymar and midfielder Rafinha.

“Impossible to dribble this defender… @justinbieber,” Neymar posted to his 26 million Twitter followers with a photo of the Brazilian dispossessing Bieber.

Hundreds of Beliebers – as Bieber's dedicated fan base are known  – have queued for up to a month outside Madrid's Palacio de Deportes where Bieber will perform on Wednesday just to get as close as possible to their idol when the gates finally open.

However, even a social media phenom such as Bieber can't compare to Messi's numbers.

Bieber's 77 million Facebook likes falls 10 million behind five-time World Player of the Year Messi's tally.
