“We are generally satisfied people,” Centre Party MP Fredrick Federley told the Aftonbladet newspaper.
“I think most of us see the glass as half full.”
Together with the United Minds polling firm, Aftonbladet has carried out a comprehensive look at Swedes’ sex lives.
On Tuesday, findings were released showing that Christian Democrat voters have sex most often per month, 5.3 times on average, among supporters of Sweden’s main political parties.
Centre Party voters ranked second, having sex 4.8 times per month on average, while Sweden Democrat supporters ranked third with 4.6.
The bottom end of the ranking was a three-way tie between the Social Democrats, Left Party, and Liberal Party (Folkpartiet), each of which has supporters that frolic between the sheets 3.3 times per month on average.
Left Party and Social Democrat voters also reported being the least satisfied with their sex lives, with only 44 and 45 percent saying they were happy with their bedroom intimacy. Topping the satisfaction table, meanwhile, were Centre Party voters, 65 percent of whom are happy with their sex lives, followed by the Christian Democrats at 58 percent.
Left Party MP Rossana Dinamarca was surprised to learn her party’s voters, which were also found to have group sex most often, placed so low in the sex satisfaction ranking.
“I read previously that feminists have better sex, and because we are a feminist party, this [result] is surprising,” she told Aftonbladet.
“It may have to do with us having high expectations, both for ourselves, our partners, and how we want things. We know that we can have it good.”
The results are based on responses from 3,016 participants. However, the number of responses from voters in the smaller parties was too low to be considered representative.
