Dad slams booze delivery to 10-year-old son

The boy’s father had ordered the goods but as he wasn’t home for the daytime delivery the DHL driver allowed the boy to sign off on the delivery.

“This doesn’t feel at all proper, they should have other routines so that it is delivered to the one who ordered it,” the boy’s father told the local Barometern daily.

But the firm has defended its driver for deciding to deliver the goods.

“It is difficult for the driver to decide… If you know that the order is unsuitable for minors then perhaps one should be at home to receive the package,” said Stina Petrini at the firm to the newspaper.

Petrini added however that had the driver known the contents of the delivery he wouldn’t have handed it over to the boy.

The firm’s normal routine is to request identification when delivering a package but Petrini argued that it is also consistent with procedure to allow a 10-year-old to sign off.

“It is regrettable and lucky that he didn’t open or drink from what was in the delivery,” Petrini said.
