The German Weather Service (DWD) said Thursday would see rain and even some sleet in western parts of the country – and snow at the top of central mountainous areas. East of the Elbe River will be sunnier with only a few rain showers and highs of between 13 and 15C.
Most of the rest of the country will have some rain during Thursday night, falling as snow in areas over 500 metres above sea level. In regions without cloud cover temperatures could fall to as low as 1C, leading to frost in some areas.
Friday will see showers and some storms in western and southern areas, and snow in higher mountainous areas. The east will be sunnier and far less wet, and temperatures will reflect the difference, reaching highs of 7C near the Alps, and 16C in the north west.

Friday night will also be damp, with some showers even into north-eastern areas, which will bring temperatures down to as low as 1C, again bringing the possibility of a slight frost.
Saturday will be wetter in the north-east, with longer, heavier rain showers while the rest of the country will be cloudy but largely dry with some scattered showers. Top temperatures will be between 9 and 15C.
More rain should be expected on Saturday night, with temperatures down as low as 2C, before Sunday arrives, cloudy and rainy all of the day and into the evening with highs of between 9 and 15C.
